Mayor Arakawa to Address Affordable Housing
at MNHCoC February Membership Dinner
February 10th Event at Maui Tropical Plantation
KAHULUI, HI – Maui County Mayor Alan Arakawa will be the featured speaker at the Maui Native Hawaiian Chamber of Commerce’s February Membership Dinner. Slated for 5:30 PM, Tuesday, February 10 at Maui Tropical Plantation in Waikapu, the mayor will address the County’s efforts to ameliorate the affordable housing situation facing many Maui residents.
“Affordable housing is a key issue for the Maui Native Hawaiian Chamber,” explained MNHCoC President Doreen Pua Canto. “We are very concerned about the cost of housing in Maui County and its effect on our workforce and our local families. We look forward to hearing from the mayor about how the community can help to expedite timely solutions to this ongoing challenge.”
The mayor will make a brief speech outlining the state of affordable housing in Maui County as well as initiatives that are underway to alleviate the current demand. MNHCoC members and their guests will have an opportunity to ask questions of the mayor during a moderated session led by board member Mercer “Chubby” VIcens.
Prepaid admission is $20 for members or $25 for non-members who pay online in advance. Advance payment may be made through PayPal on www.mnhcoc.org. Those who wish to pay at the door will be charged $25 for members and $30 for non-members. The fee includes a buffet dinner featuring Kumu Farms Green Salad with two dressings, Hoison Glazed Chicken, Grilled Island Fish and Papaya Lychee Salsa, Roast Pork and Pan Gravy, Stir Fry Vegetables, White Rice Scented with Lemongrass, dessert, coffee or tea. A no-host bar opens at 5:30 for informal networking.
